My new work plans and goals for 2010

Though I didn’t make any official New Year’s Resolutions, I  have been looking forward to the new year so that I can get into an actual work routine now that the wedding, home buying, major home renovations, and holidays are behind us. The last half of 2009 was crazy busy for us, and my work days have been pretty unstructured and abnormal for a while.

Struggling with productivity

I haven’t been terribly happy with my productivity so far this week. It’s hard getting back into the groove. It’s almost like I am starting over. The part-time job does not need my services this week, and so I am trying to get used to being productive at home again and working a full day without any wedding distractions. It’s a bit discouraging, because I feel like I have spent the better part of three days in front of the computer and don’t have a whole heck of a lot to show for it.

Trying to turn a night owl into an early bird

I have a confession to make: a teeny part of me is glad that Ryan is out of town this week. Yes, it sucks that we just got married and he is off inspecting levees in western Kansas and I am at home with just the cat for company, but I get to work/write/blog as much as I want without feeling guilty for neglecting my spouse.

Employment prospects

It’s been a while since I reported on my employment situation. For a few months now, I have been working part-time while continuing to plug away at freelancing. I’ve had some clients come and go and still haven’t quite settled into a routine. It doesn’t help that my work load at the part-time job is rather sporadic and that the job itself is still technically temporary. It all leaves me feeling kind of up in the air: not quite freelancing, not quite employed. I am trying to just stay in the moment and work with it and not worry about it too much.

Finding balance … and planning a wedding!

Last week I had lunch with a friend and we were talking about how life never seems to slow down. She just got married in Mexico after a near two-year engagement, is looking at new homes, and is managing constantly shifting responsibilities in her career as a regional manager for a cosmetics company. I am planning a wedding in a mere two months and as a result have practically ceased all blogging and freelancing activities. There simply isn’t enough time to accomplish everything; I feel like even if I had six extra hours in every day, I still wouldn’t be able to get it all done.

For a while, I was pushing myself to accomplish as much freelance writing as possible in addition to my part-time job. I was determined to meet my daily income goals, and it was working.

Kansas City Yoga Examiner

Hey everyone!

I was waiting to post this link until I actually had some content up on the target page. I am very excited to announce that I am now the Kansas City Yoga Examiner for examiner.com. Examiner is a site that provides geographic-specific information on a wide variety of topics. It has been successful in other markets and just recently launched in Kansas City.
