The Law of Attraction: Starting Small

In The Secret, Rhonda Byrne outlines three basic steps to the law of attraction: Ask, believe, and receive. Sounds pretty simple. First, you have to ask the Universe for what you want. You only have to ask once. She equates the practice to placing an order from the all-encompassing catalog of the Universe. Once you place an order, you don’t have to place it again.

Practicing the law of attraction

Last week, I picked up the borrowed copy of The Secret that I’ve had lying around for nearly a year and still haven’t read. I decided it was time to really start learning how to put the law of attraction to work in my life. That was a few days before Mom mentioned going to the Spiritual Comedy — Andy Dooley’s presentation on metaphysics and visualization — so it definitely seemed like the Universe was trying to tell me something.

AltGlobe’s Economic Crisis Survival Guide

The new series that I am writing for AltGlobe (four posts) is a spiritually based “Economic Crisis Survival Guide.” Part One is about using the economic crisis as an opportunity to reconnect with our spiritual natures and our core values. With only 600 words to work with, I didn’t really get too in-depth on the subject, but I’m pretty pleased with it and hope that it speaks to AltGlobe’s readers.

Re-evaluating

I have decided to take a step back from my freelance work. I have been so focused on my goal of earning $500 a month in freelance income that I have been accepting as many jobs as possible, and my myriad deadlines are leaving me stressed. I’ve been feeling like I haven’t had time to get things done around the house (including unpacking the boxes that remain in the middle of our dining room), spend quality time with Ryan, or just relax. No wonder I’ve felt so frazzled and strung-out these past few weeks!

I’ve come a long way in just a couple of months — I have a growing body of work on the Web that will help me get more jobs when my schedule allows it.
