Universal intervention

Welcome to day 3 of my full-time freelancing life! It is shaping out to be everything I had envisioned. Here I sit at my home computer, a pot of French Caramel Cream coffee brewing, a full day’s worth of interesting writing projects (and a lunch date with a good friend) ahead of me.

The past couple of days have been a bit hectic as I have been attending to personal business and dealing with the shock of losing my full-time job. But as the dust settles around me, I am at peace. I should have left long ago rather than staying in a situation that was no longer working for me, but I couldn’t quite justify quitting a full-time job with benefits in this economy. But sometimes the universe steps in and gives us a little shove off the cliff of complacency when we can’t bring ourselves to make the leap.

I have already spoken with a few clients about some additional projects. My main goal right now is to use my writing time more efficiently so that I can meet my daily quota and still have time to search for new gigs. I also had a job interview on Tuesday for a full-time copywriting position with a very cool ad agency, about which I am cautiously optimistic. Yes, I know that is contrary to everything I just said about freelancing. :) But it is a writing job, and one with a company that appears to offer a very positive culture and lots of challenges that I think would be good for me at this point in my career. I’m excited about the possibility, and right now, I’m just trusting that the universe will continue to guide me on the right path.

Happy Friday, everyone.
