This week’s Want to Freelance post is about goal setting, and it’s already received some good feedback! I have been keeping busy this month with freelance assignments, even without AltGlobe. In fact, I’m considering taking a full week off from my full-time job (after some deadlines are met) to focus on my freelance work and get a much-needed break. I haven’t had a proper vacation in almost two years, I just received a big chunk of PTO for my anniversary, and with the new computer up and running, I would be able to get a lot accomplished. Not to mention some nice R&R time. My short getaway to Chicago this weekend didn’t do much to alleviate the job burnout I’ve been feeling, but I did come home with a cool new tattoo:
It’s a Tibetan mantra, om mani padme hum, which means “jewel of the lotus.” It symbolizes wisdom, enlightenment, and compassion, and represents overcoming difficulties and reaching a higher state of peace — something we could all probably use right now! It’s my reminder to focus on what’s important and continue forging my authentic path in life.

In a way you set your goals *in* ink. Cool tattoo – I think we all need reminders to keep us on course and from slipping back into the ease of “going with the pack.”
