Not bad for a Monday

This morning I was adding something to my work calendar for October when I had the strong feeling that I would not still be at my job at that time. Call it intuition, call it a premonition … I’ve learned to listen to these little hunches whenever they pop up. It was an exciting moment, because over the weekend I started reading Nacie Carson’s book, The Life Uncommon, and started planning what my new life as a full-time writer would look like (complete with energy-efficient home in Colorado with a view of the mountains!). Kelsey first introduced me to the Life Uncommon Web site a couple of months ago, and I’ve been inspired by Nacie’s story and blog posts about leaving the rat race to pursue a more meaningful, authentic lifestyle.

Today got even more interesting when Nacie contacted me this afternoon. We had started chatting about freelancing last week when I e-mailed her to order the book, and after reading my blog, Nacie has asked me to contribute blog posts to her new site, Want to Freelance. It will be launching in a couple of weeks, and I’ll be writing a weekly blog post about starting out as a freelancer.

It’s amazing the people you meet on the Web! My work with AltGlobe has put me in touch with some really interesting people from all over the world with incredibly diverse stories. And now I have the opportunity to work very closely with other “Uncommoners” — people choosing to live authentically, listen to their inner voices, and forge their own paths. And just think, if Nacie’s shopping cart hadn’t been broken last week, I probably never would have had a reason to e-mail her. Everything happens for a reason, right?

  1. it is so funny you mentioned the shopping cart story, because I had the exact same reaction! I was telling a friend of mine, “yea, it’s lame that the shopping cart is broken, but it introduced me to this very interesting person – everything happens for a reason!”

    What a world!
