More Material For My Growing Addiction

Posted in Writing. on Thursday, December 18th, 2008 by Karen

For some reason I decided to send Tim Kasser the link to my blog post in which I mentioned his book. Knox is a small community, after all, and I did take an Intro to Psychology class while I was there, though I never knew Tim personally. But I knew he wouldn’t find it odd for a Knox alum to e-mail him in reference to his book. Not only did he write me back, he sent me some additional reading material: his original article about voluntary simplicity (of which he wrote an abbreviated version for the recent issue of the Knox Magazine. It’s a great article; you can read it here) and an “overview chapter on happiness and policy implications.” Whatever that means. I shall have to investigate as soon as I finish reading his book. I’m sure the articles will give me a lot of material to write about. Which is exciting, because I seem to have become addicted to blogging. Between my two personal blogs and the trial assignment for AltGlobe, I’ve been writing blog posts or thinking of topics nearly nonstop. Last night after I got off work I was kind of disappointed that I didn’t have any articles to work on. I’ve already warned Ryan that once we’re in our new apartment, I’m going to be spending a lot of time on the computer. My writing has been on the back burner for so many years, it’s exciting to be getting back into it.
